Happy Wine Wednesday! I’ve been seeing sparkling Shiraz all over my Instagram feed lately. I’ve noticed this because there is very little I love more in the wine world than either a good Shiraz (or Syrah) or a good sparkling wine. Seeing a combination of both made me need to try this! I went on a hunt for it and finally found one at my local Whole Foods: The Red Brute. The label made me laugh, but more on that later. Now on to the tasting!
Details:

The Red Brute
Sparkling Shiraz, NV
Langhorne Creek, South Australia
Australia
13.5% Alcohol
Red Sparkling Wine
Tasting Notes:
Deep in color, this sparkling Shiraz looks like luxurious crushed velvet. It features aromas of rich, ripe cherries and minerals. Finally, candied plum and cherries fill the mouth with a silky earthiness and a light dusting of pepper. This wine is sweet and succulent. It would be paired nicely with lamb, pork and a creamy camembert cheese.
Trivia:
Apparently, “The Red Brute” is not the disheveled man on the label. “The Red Brute” is the grape press for the winery. The man is Uncle Dick, the founder of the Bleasdale Winery. The wine is red, but definitely not brutish.
